Francisco J. "Pancho" Aviles, 81, of Dunkirk died Monday evening (May 21, 2012) at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, following a lengthy illness.He was born Dec. 3, 1929 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, son of the late Francisco and Cristina Maria (Torres) Aviles.Mr. Aviles was a retired farm worker, having worked at many local and
area farms.
His memberships included the United Methodist Church, Hose Co. No. 2 for more than 35 years, Moose Club, Columbus Club and Dunkirk Exempt Fireman's Club.

Surviving are his wife, Valerie (Main) Aviles of Dunkirk; children Francis Aviles, Gloria Zebracki, both of Dunkirk; Douglas Aviles, Brenda (Wally) Aviles Voss, both of Fredonia; Christina Aviles of Dunkirk; grandchildren Haley Voss, Kayla Voss, Tamara Behm, Sunshine McClean, Jeremy Mazany, Francis Mazany, along with several other grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk, where funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
