Crash victim's name released

JAMESTOWN - Jamestown Police have released the name of the victim who was killed in an accident involving a car and a motorcycle Wednesday night. Jacob L. Crawford, 20, of Jamestown died at WCA Hospital as a result of injuries sustained when the motorcycle he was operating was struck by a vehicle making a turn.

According to Jamestown Police, preliminary results of the accident investigation show Crawford was traveling east on E. 8th Street at about 11 p.m. when a 2005 Ford Escape traveling west on E. 8th Street made a left turn on to Prendergast Avenue directly into the path of the motorcycle.

Jamestown Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Chautauqua County Accident Reconstruction Team. The investigation is ongoing and charges against the operator of the 2005 Ford Escape are pending the results of the investigation. The name of the Escape driver has not been released.
