NC Concord wins Southern Tier Travel Soccer game

Tiona Pittman scored two goals and Abbey Zentz added one as NC Concord U-14 blanked BAYSO, 3-0. Sophie Thompson, Ashleigh Hobbs and Zoya Katta were credited with assists. Ashleigh Hobbs and Morgan St. George showed strong defensive games. Alex Zentz had a shutout in the net and Dominique Riforgiato received the STAR player award from BAYSO. Sunday the team will travel to Olean for a 1 p.m. game against EMSC. Pictured is NCSA midfielder Marina Kessler as she boots the ball to her forward looking for a scoring opportunity.

Tradition Agency's Eva Storm and Trevor Persch played stellar defense. Jacob Sullivan and Daisia Draggett hit the ball hard at the plate.
Blasdell Pizza's Joey Brown and Jameson Quinn had the hot gloves on defense. Jack Fortna and Brycen Drummond hammered the ball in their at-bats.

Gullo GreenScape 10, St.George 7
Sidney Bigelow and Hannah Gullo each pitched three innings of no-hit ball to lead their team in a tight game.
Bigelow struck out seven in her three innings and Gullo finished up the game striking out four. Leading the way with the bats for Gullo GreenScape was McKenna Leid with a double and a single.
Megan Kite and Grace Pucciarelli pitched well in defeat, allowing only two hits.

Jenna Leid and Hannah Gullo had a hit apiece to lead Gullo GreenScape to victory. Sidney Bigelow and Hannah Gullo combined to pitch a two-hitter, striking out 11.

The Women Who Golf For Fun - Tied for lowest score were Pat Kaus and Carol Kowalewski. Linda Hodorowicz came in second. Hodorowicz also drove closest to he pin on No. 5. The women will meet again next Wednesday, gathering at 9:30 a.m. and teeing off at 10 a.m. This will be the last practice game before the league officially starts on Wednesday, June 6. Then they will meet at 8:30 a.m. and tee off at 9 a.m. Women golfers are encouraged to join.

Mike Korzeniewski and Doug Baker combined to pitch the victory allowing only one hit and striking out seven. Matt Grace and Brian Wojcinski each had two hits while Corky Karales doubled to lead the 11-hit A's attack.
Matt Wallace had the one hit while suffering the loss.

Fredonia State has two student-athletes in the men's field - junior Spencer Lefort in the decathlon and senior Broncho Rollins in the pole vault.
The meet starts today and runs through Saturday at Burns Stadium on the campus of Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps Colleges in Claremont, Calif.

Muddy Viking mud run
Lake Chautauqua Lutheran Center's grounds will host its first four-mile mud run Oct. 13. The event is count the Muddy Viking.
The four-mile off-road race will take place on the 150 acres of Lake Chautauqua Lutheran Center with 14 obstacles along the way.
Racers go off in waves of 75 people every 10 minutes. The first wave begins at 9:30 a.m. The first wave will finish around 10 a.m. and the last wave as late as 1 p.m.)
Each runner receives a T-shirt, beer coupons, water, food and race packet coupons.
The Muddy Viking is for ages 14 and up. There will also be a Muddy Lil' Viking for ages 5 to 13.
Lake Chautauqua Lutheran Center's staff will host kids' games, campfires, face painting and GaGa Pit games after the races are complete.
After the races, competitors will be treated to food and beer provided by the Chautauqua region's own Bulldog BBQ and Southern Tier Brewery.

Ed Eaker will host Sports Rap tonight on Cable Access Channel 12 in Dunkirk and Silver Creek and Channel 5 in Fredonia.
The show will air from 7-8:30 p.m., as Eaker will be joined to talk about the national and local sports scenes by Rich Catalano and Jim Bunge.
