Book-signing event Saturday at Book Nook

Author C. E. Snyder's book-signing event will be Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at The Book Nook, 1170 Central Ave., Dunkirk

Snyder, a resident of Waterford, Pa., will be available to sign copies of her book, "The Glass Shower."

County American Legion meeting Friday

The May meeting of the Chautauqua County American Legion is Friday at the John W. Rogers Post 327 in Westfield starting at 8 p.m. All Legionnaires are urged to attend this meeting

Free dinner and movie

The Cassadaga Commun-ity Baptist Church, 25 Maple Ave., will hold a free dinner and movie night Friday in the Fellowship Hall. Dinner is at 6 p.m., and the movie "Beyond the Blackboard" is at 7 p.m.

Wine Fest is June 1

The annual Grape Expectations Wine Festival, which is sponsored by the Fredonia and Dunkirk Community Chambers of Commerce, will be on June 1 at the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk from 5 to 9 p.m.

Area wineries will offer a variety of wine tastings and will have inventory for sale. There will also be a buffet, by the Clarion, available as an option.

Tickets are $10 and include a commemorative wine glass. They are available from members of the board or by calling the offices of the Fredonia Chamber 679-1565 or the Dunkirk Chamber 366-6200.

Chicken barbecue Sunday at NCCS

NCCS, Fourth Street and Washington Avenue, Dunkirk, will host a chicken barbecue featuring Michael Porpiglia's homemade marinade Sunday from noon to sold out. Dinner includes a half chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, tossed salad, roll & butter, dessert, and beverage for $8. Take-out and curbside pick-up are available or come inside to dine and take a chance on the theme basket raffle.

Chicken barbecue and raffle on Memorial Day

The Town of Sheridan Fire Department's Annual Chiavetta Chicken Barbecue and Raffle will be on Memorial Day, May 28. It will follow the annual service in the cemetery. Tickets are available from fire department members or at the Town Clerk's office from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Plant sale continues

The Sinclairville Free Library announces that the Plant Sale will continue Fri-day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Crafters sought

for 'Fly-In' event

The Dunkirk Rotary Club seeks crafters and vendors interested in being part of its annual Fly-In Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon July 8 at the Dunkirk Airport. The club welcomes crafters who provide handmade crafts, fine art and gourmet food products. A limited number of indoor spaces will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Crafter booth spaces are $25 for a single 10- by 10-foot space or you may purchase a double space for $40.
