N. Silvana Alcivar, 59, of Main Street, Silver Creek died Tuesday (May 22, 2012) at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 1, 1952 in Guayaquil, Ecuador, the daughter of Blanca (Cordero) Arteaga of Guayaquil and the late Romeo Arteaga.
A homemaker, Silvana was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church and the Silver Creek Garden Club. Her interests included embroidery, photography and gardening, but most of all, she devoted herself to raising her children.

Besides her mother, she is survived by five sons, Ernesto (Pamela) Alcivar of Libertyville, Ill., Luis Alcivar of Gilbert, Ariz., Ricardo (Christa) Alcivar of Middleburg, Fla., Carlos (Heather) Alcivar of Thomasville, N.C., and Eduardo Alcivar of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four daughters, Eliana Alcivar of Philadelphia, Silvi Alcivar of San Francisco, and Susi Prince-Rivera and Adriana Alcivar, both of Silver Creek; two brothers, Octavio and Patricio; and seven sisters, Edith, Lucrecia, Fanny, Mirian, Mercy, M. Valentina and Karla. Sixteen grandchildren also survive.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernesto Alcivar, who died May 12, 1996.
Prayers will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel in Silver Creek followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Silver Creek. The family will be present at the funeral chapel today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Silver Creek.
