Van, bus collide on Route 5, injuring three

Three people were injured as a result of collision involving a mini-van and a bus on Route 5 in the town of Dunkirk Thursday around 3 p.m.

Sources on the scene said the driver of the bus was heading eastbound and came to a complete stop to pick up a passenger and was struck in the rear by a minivan. The Coach USA bus makes regular stops en route from Jamestown to Buffalo.

According to emergency responders on the scene, the female driver of the minivan was transported by Alstar to Brooks Memorial Hospital with complaint of ankle injury. Two men were removed from the bus with complaint of head and neck injuries and were also transported to the hospital by Alstar ambulance.

Route 5 was closed in one direction. The town of Dunkirk Fire department also assisted State Troopers on the scene.
