SILVER CREEK - At a very early special meeting Thursday, the Silver Creek Board of Education accepted the resignation of Middle School Principal Julie Schwab effective June 30.
Schwab has served as the Middle School Principal since last June, when previous Middle School Principal Patricia Krenzer retired. Before that time Schwab served the district as the director of curriculum and instruction, an administrative position which was later abolished by the board.
Interim Superintendent David Kurzawa explained in a phone interview that the board intends to post the vacancy immediately and fill the position as soon as possible.
However, Schwab will not leave the district in a hurry as the board approved a contract to hire her as a consultant on instruction until July 30. Kurzawa explained the short-term position will help with common core and other state requirements.
In addition, a contract with Krenzer was also approved to hire her as a consultant on APPR until June 30.
Kurzawa explained the 6:30 a.m. meeting was due to not being able to get a quorum of board members at any other time this week.
In other business:
The district will also have a slight change in secretaries as 10-month Administrative Aide Jodie Ward resigned from her position to be appointed to the probationary position of 10-month school secretary. Shannon Aures-Karcz, part-time clerk II, also resigned from her position to be appointed to the provisional position of 10-month school secretary.
Kari Turner's position title was changed from head bus driver to transportation supervisor.
The next regular meeting will be held June 13 at 7 p.m. in the elementary library with a workshop beginning at 6 p.m.
