The valedictorian of the Class of 1992 at Pine Valley Central School is Heidi Sanderson, daughter of Rod and Sally Sanderson of South Dayton. Listed in "Who's Who in American High Schools," Heidi will major in business administration at Hilbert College. Cara Ewell, daughter of Kerry Brooks of South Dayton and Steven Ewell of Fredonia, has been named salutatorian. She will major in biological science at Boston University.

Staff Sgt. Robert A. Fafinski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley C. Fafinski, 142 South Ocelot St., Dunkirk has been decorated with the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal at Andrews AFB, Maryland. The medal is awarded to those individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the performance of their duties. Sgt. Fafinski, a mental health technician with the Malcolm Grow U.S. Air Force Medical Center, is a 1968 graduate of Dunkirk High School.
Forty years ago - 1972
The Ford Pantera, a two-seat sports car that carries a price tag of about $10,000, is on display now at Hartley Ford in Fredonia. Virtually handmade, only about 25 of these automobiles will be manufactured this year.

David M. Serrone of 821 Brigham Road, Dunkirk has received a doctor of philosophy degree in pharmacology from Tulane University in New Orleans.
