Twenty years ago - 1992

While visiting in California, Mark Lotter and Joanne Johnson attended the taping of a Price is Right episode and Ms. Johnson was chosen as a contestant. She can be seen on the episode to be aired June 11. Ms. Johnson, who will begin her sophomore year at Indiana University of Pennsylvania this fall, was also named to the dean's list for the spring semester. A physical education and aquatics major, she is the daughter of Jim and Carol Johnson of Fredonia.

Thirty years ago 1982

Former Dunkirk Mayor Gary Michalak reportedly plans to seek the Democratic nomination for the state Assembly post now held by Assemblyman Rolland Kidder of Jamestown. He is the first Democrat to publicly announce that he is seeking the post, but there has been widespread speculation that several other prominent Democrats are interested, including County Public Works Director William Parment.

Forty years ago - 1972

Thomas R. Johnson, a member of John T. Murray VFW Post 1017 of Dunkirk, has been elected commander of the Chautauqua County VFW.

Fifty years ago - 1962

The Silver Creek BPW Club received five awards at the 43rd annual convention of the New York State Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, held in Buffalo.
