Twenty years ago - 1992
A 1962 GMC pumper truck in mint condition was recently sold by the Perrysburg Fire Department to an Arkansas fire company. The vehicle, which was the "Cadillac" of fire trucks in its day, was the first new one ever to be purchased by the Perrysburg Fire Department. The Gum Springs, Ark. (population 370) Fire Co. purchased the vehicle for $8,000 to replace their current 1951 Dodge truck.
Thirty years ago - 1982
Student of the Week is William Buchholz, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Damico of 927 Exchange St., Sunset Bay, Irving. A student in the BOCES Fredonia conservation program, he is a senior at Silver Creek Central School. Mr. Buchholz enjoys the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, as well as the sport of wrestling. Following graduation, he plans a three-year enlistment in the U.S. Army.

The St. Hedwig's Mothers Club celebrated its 20th anniversary at its installation banquet with the first officers and moderator as guests.
Fifty years ago - 1962
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barone, owners of the Park Cleaners in Silver Creek, have purchased the Oliver Building, 14-16 Howard St., from Carmen and Joseph Oliver and have moved the dry cleaning establishment from 33 Main St. to the new location.
