Fredonia church switching to summer hours

Christ Community Church, located at 219 Berry St., Fredonia, is switching to summer hours beginning Sunday. Worship time will take place at 10 a.m. There is no Sunday School. Sunday School will return in September, the Sunday following Labor Day. LILY DALE - Guest speaker Emmy Chetkin will be featured at the Church of the Living Spirit Sunday.

Church plans 'Adventures on Promise Island'

Adventures on Promise Island, "where God's promises never change," will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 334 Temple St., Fredonia, June 25 through 29, from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m.

Each day at Promise Island kids will participate in the excitement of Seaside Celebration, experience Bible stories about God's promises at Lifeguard Lagoon, create craft projects at Project Pointe, enjoy snacks, and play games. And, through it all, they'll discover God's promises and His life-saving love.

They'll see God at work in the lives of Old and New Testament Bible people and realize that God's promises are for everyone. Participants will discover that God promises to be with them, to care about them, to give them what they need, to save them, and to answer them

Reverend to speak Sunday on spiritual principals

CASSADAGA - The Rev. Jay Cooke will be the speaker Sunday at Universal Unity of Spirit. His topic is "A Trip To The Principals" which refers to the spiritual principals of the church. Healing service is from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and the lecture is at 1:30 followed by refreshments and fellowship. Also during Sunday's service, four new prayer chaplains will be introduced to the congregation. Universal Unity of Spirit is located at 89 N. Main St. (Route 60) in Cassadaga and is an interfaith organization open to all. Call 595-2617 for information.

Holy Trinity Seniors

Holy Trinity Seniors met at the Parish Center on Thursday. President Rita Lombardo opened the meeting with the "Lord's Prayer" and a reading titled "In the Garden of My Heart."

Secretary Josie Wierczynski read the minutes of the previous meeting. They were accepted as read. Lombardo gave the financial report. It was accepted by Lenny Catalano.

"Happy Birthday" was sung to Mary Dunbar and members wished her many more.

Alberta and Lenny Catalano celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. "Happy Anniversary" was sung to them and members wished them many more years of happiness.

Plans have been made for a possible day trip and also a beach party.

Dunbar will provide refreshments at the next meeting which will be on July 12. Plans are being made to play some card games after the meeting.

Lunch was served and President Lombardo brought a cake with strawberries and whipped cream. Everyone enjoyed all the food.

The 50/50 raffles were won by Lombardo, Marian Genovese, Lenny Catalano, Ann Schlichter, Wierczynski and Dunbar.
