FORESTVILLE - After some problems with the water project's engineer, the Forestville Village Board decided Tuesday to hire a different one.

The first engineer on the project, Tollman Engineering, "did not have the best interests on the village in mind," according to Mayor Charles Brewster in the workshop.

Brewster explained Clark, Patterson & Lee Engineer Service came highly recommended by Municipal Solutions, the financial arm of the project, and the health department.

The Forestville Village Board hired a different engineer for the water project Tuesday. Pictured from left are: trustee Beth Bowker, Mayor Charles Brewster and Trustee Carol Woodward.

In addition Clark Patterson & Lee have experience working with well-drawn water systems, like Forestville's.

Brewster said the village made the decision after meeting with the engineers and seeing their portfolio. He also said the village will only be responsible to pay Tollman engineering for the services rendered thus far in the water project and all previous work submitted for the project is still valid.

The new engineering firm said they will stick to the existing schedule, in which construction is expected to begin this fall.

Several residents said they saw a slight improvement in the water quality after the lines were flushed recently, however not enough to make it drinkable.

Brewster answered a previous public question saying most of the hydrants in the village work but have inadequate water supply due to small lines, all of which will be replaced in the water project.

The board tabled two resolutions, one for bids on a 3/4 ton truck and the other on an increase in the contractual cost for Municipal Solutions services on the water project from $50,000 to $64,000, to gain more information. Brewster explained Municipal Solutions is asking for more money because the project has run longer than expected, but the board hopes a representative will attend the next board meeting on July 31.
