Russell DiMaggio Sr. of Venice, FL, formerly of Fredonia, NY died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Venice Hospice House after a brief illness.
Survivors include his wife Marie (Testa); daughters Theresa DiMaggio of Fredonia, NY and Lorraine Schroeder (Joseph) of Palmetto FL; grandchildren Kristian Schlia of Dunkirk, NY, John Schlia of Rochester, NY, Elizabeth Hardy and Jason (Bridgette) Schroeder of Palmetto FL, Shane (Karen) Schroeder of Miami FL and Jennifer Schroeder of Huntington Beach, CA. Also surviving are nine great-grand children.
He was preceded in death by his son, Russell DiMaggio Jr.; his parents, Joseph and Theresa (Pal-ma) DiMaggio; his sisters, Lucy Vallani, Mary Manzella, Jenny Palermo, Ann Privateer, Marion Petz, Kay Mancuso; and brothers Michael and Louis DiMaggio.

Russell owned and operated The Pantry Delicatessen in Fredonia from 1947-1985. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, The Lions Club and The North Collins Investment Club. He was a Eucharist Minister at St. Anthony's Church in Fredonia and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice.
Russell served us and his country in WWII. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and taking vacations with his family. He will be missed very much!
A Memorial Service to celebrate Mr. DiMaggio's life will be held at a later date.
