Editor, OBSERVER:
Hearing of the proposed building of a hotel and water park in Irving is a most welcome enterprise for our area.
There have been motels that have come and gone.
There is still a motel on Routes 5 and 20 near Sunset Bay. We need to boost our economy in this area and perhaps this will bring more business to the beaches and the village of Silver Creek and the surrounding areas.
I am the proprietor of Pinewoods Cottage Bed and Breakfast, in the town of Hanover, four miles from Sunset Bay Beach and for the past 16 years many of my guests continue to stay with me from an overnight to eight or nine nights, and, some for a months stay.
We have had visitors from all over the United States and Europe, including Sweden, Germany, Italy, England, and New Zealand. Guests come for many reasons, but they infuse their dollars into the local economy.
I applaud the entrepreneurship and vision that may spark our economy, bring jobs to the area and benefit all of our businesses.
