Accident last week sends motorcyclist to hospital

A car and motorcycle accident sent one to the hospital last week.

Dunkirk Police responded to an accident involving a motorcycle on July 8.

At 2:24 p.m. a vehicle operated by Kenneth P. Reid, 68 of Amherst was parked on Lake Shore Drive West. He stated he was pulling into traffic from being parked, attempting to make a u-turn to head east on Lake Shore Drive.

Reid pulled in to the path of an oncoming motorcycle operated by Hector J. Camacho Jr., 24, of Fay Street, Brocton. Reid states he did not see Camacho.

The collision caused Camacho to be ejected from the motorcycle and he was transported to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.

Reid was charged with failure to yield the right of way when entering roadway.

Man charged for driving while intoxicated after hitting a cow

ARCADE - On Saturday, New York State Police in Warsaw responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a mini-van and a cow on Route 39.

Norman J. Kleever of Chaffee was operating the van. He struck a cow that had entered the roadway after getting outside the fence line of a nearby pasture. The farmer removed the dead cow from the scene.

Kleever reportedly failed roadside sobriety tests. He was transported to the state police barracks at Warsaw where he provided a breath sample that was reported to be .13 percent. Kleever was not injured as a result of the collision and was later released.

He is scheduled to answer the charge at a later date in the Arcade Town Court.

Troopers from Collins charge woman with aggravated DWI

PERRYSBURG - On Sunday, troopers stationed at Collins charged Amber E. Lewis, 22, of Van Vleck Road, Perrysburg with aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Troopers made the stop on Route 5 at about 9:30 p.m.

Lewis was transported to the Collins barracks where a breath test was administered resulting in a recorded blood alcohol content of .19 percent.

She was charged with D.W.I. and Aggravated D.W.I. for having a B.A.C. above .18 percent. She was also ticketed for other vehicle and transportation charges. Lewis is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hanover Court on Aug. 9.
