Forestville Church celebrating bicentennial

The Forestville Methodist Church will be celebrating 200 years of methodism this weekend. The celebration will begin on Saturday, July 14 with a picnic at noon for members of the church. A gospel quartet, Soul Provider will entertain the public at 2 p.m. at the church. The celebration will continue on Sunday, July 15 with mass at 11 a.m. Former pastors of the church will be in attendance on both days. The church is located at 3 Park St., Forestville.

Safe boating class offered Sunday

The last one-day Safe Boating Class for the month of July will be offered on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

The class will be held at Chautauqua Marina, 104 W. Lake Road, Mayville. To register for the class, email boatsafety@aol.com or call Chautauqua Marina at 753-3913 or 753-0409.

Class is for adults and children ages 10 and up. Course fee is $39, materials are $5. Course is an eight-hour long class.

This class meets all the requirements for the New York State Safe Boating Program. PWC (jet-ski) Operators ages 14 years of age and up (including adults) are required to hold a safe boating certificate when operating a jet-ski in New York State.
