Darwin R. Barker Museum opens new exhibits

July 14, 2012
The OBSERVER

The Darwin R. Barker Museum in Fredonia announces the opening of a new group of exhibits. In an effort to acquaint the public with the museum's wide range of artifacts, a number of new displays are being offered.

Fredonia was home to several well-known patent medicine companies, such as the Fenner and Pettit businesses, whose proprietors were highly respected and active local men. These companies are highlighted in Barker Museum's new "Patent Medicine in Fredonia" exhibit.

Other new displays include antique medical instruments, ladies' handbags and children's accessories of the 1800s and a number of locally woven 19th century coverlets.
