Twenty years ago - 1992

Dunkirk attorney David Civilette is seeking the Democratic Party's endorsement to run for the position of Chautauqua County Court Judge in the November election. He hopes to replace Judge Lee Towne Adams who is leaving the bench due to the state court system's mandatory retirement age.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Ground-breaking ceremonies followed the Sunday morning worship service at the Stockton Community Church, which will soon begin a two-story addition with a spring completion date. The new addition will include ramps for the handicapped and a new kitchen, nursery, restrooms and meeting room. The church was organized in 1817 and the present church building was erected in 1832.

Forty years ago - 1972

More than 50 boats participated in the boat parade in the Dunkirk Harbor and the "Blessing of the Fleet" by the Rev. Godfrey Kasper, CP, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Dunkirk and chaplain for U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 3-2.

Fifty years ago - 1962

The Rev. Donald E. Modisher of the First United Methodist Church of Fredonia presented the God and Country Award to Life Scout Martin W. Gregory. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gregory.
