Deborah Blodgett, of 155 Point Drive North, has been named the Rising Star winner for the month of June. Program sponsor and Home Depot Manager Tammi Papke presented a $100 gift card to Deborah for her home improvement efforts.
Deborah has made substantial improvements to her home which included a new front entryway door and the enclosing of her front porch, transforming it into a new sunroom which in turn compliments her view of the lake and Cedar Beach. Perhaps the most noticeable improvement however, was the prominent orange color used to paint the exterior of the house and the freshly-painted white railings on the second story balcony.
The Rising Star program was created to promote and recognize city of Dunkirk property owners who make significant exterior improvements to existing residential homes, which in turn helps to elevate the image of city neighborhoods.

Each month through October, a $100 gift certificate will be presented to the winning property owner. Program guidelines and nomination forms are available from the City Clerk's office and the following Rising Star sponsors: Add Lumber, Bargain Outlet, Service Hardware and Home Depot. All exterior home improvements will be considered and residents are encouraged to apply.
