Dayton woman charged after pet dies
A Dayton woman has been charged with animal cruelty after her pet ferret died. Lisa M. Miller, 40, of Townline Road was charged on July 12. Miller had moved out of her residence and left a ferret behind without food or water. The ferret subsequently died. Miller was issued an appearance ticket for Dayton Town Court to appear on Aug. 2.
Accident victim flown to ECMC
COLLINS - Sunday afternoon, state troopers from Collins were dispatched to a car accident on Seneca Road. Troopers discovered Andrew C. Young, 20, of Mile Block Road in Brant trapped in a car down an embankment off the south shoulder.
Several area volunteer emergency responders assisted with extracting Young from the car and rendering aid. Injuries to his abdomen and lower extremities were considered serious but not life-threatening.
Young was taken to Erie County Medical Center by mercy flight. There he was given a chemical test to determine whether he was intoxicated and the extent of the intoxication.
Young is charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation.

Michael S. Holmberg, 27, of Kennedy was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, having no insurance and having a suspended license on July 6. At 4:19 p.m. police were alerted to a suspended registration on Holmberg's vehicle from the license plate reader as he traveled on Temple Street. Holmberg's registration was suspended due to an insurance lapse. He was held on $250 bail.
Travis L. Lanneaux, 24, of Berry Road was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and having no inspection on July 7. At 12:29 a.m. Lanneaux was observed towing a trailer without working tail lights on East Main Street. He was held on $250 bail.
Alex M. Ippolito, 19, of West Main Street and Jeffery L. Carlson, 20, of Chestnut Street were charged with violating the noise ordinance and unlawful possession of alcohol under 21 on July 8. At 3:29 a.m. police responded to a residence on Chestnut Street for the complaint of a loud party. Both Ippolito and Carlson were observed drinking beer on arrival. Both males were released on an appearance ticket.
Benjamin M. Cole, 18, of South Pangolin Street, Dunkirk was charged with second-degree obstruction and unlawful possession of alcohol under 21 on July 9. At 10:47 p.m. police were called to Main Street near Day Street for the reports of a male who had stolen beer from Crosby's. Police found Cole, who matched the description of the suspect. When police tried to stop Cole, he began to walk away. He was released on an appearance ticket.
Michael J. Mercurio, 44, of Union Street was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief July 11. At 2:31 a.m. police were called to Union Street where Mercurio had allegedly broken a window. He was held at Fredonia Police.
Christopher I. Wilson, 49, of Berry Street was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on July 12. He was traveling on East Main Street when an officer with prior knowledge of Wilson's license being suspended, observed him.
State Police at Collins
GOWANDA - On Wednesday, troopers charged Gerald Redford II, 36, of North Water Street in Gowanda for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, both felonies. He was also charged with a public health law violation.
Troopers stopped Red-ford, who was riding a bicycle, on Union Street. Troop-ers felt he was impaired and found him in possession of over 70 Oxycodone pills in a plastic baggy.
Redford was processed at state police barracks in Collins, arraigned in Collins Court, and sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $1,500 cash bail.
Early Sunday, Kath-leen Dawson, 34, of Niagara Falls was charged with driving while intoxicated.
Erie County 911 received a complaint about an erratic driver. Through mapping technology, the dispatcher observed a trooper was nearby and advised him of the complaint. The trooper reported Dawson was driving in both lanes on Route 438.
Dawson's breath test reportedly revealed a .14 percent blood alcohol content. She was given tickets to appear in the town of Collins Court at a later date.
Westfield Police
Justin Baez, 21, of West Pearl Street was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on July 10. At 7:40 p.m. police responded to Tops Markets on East Main Street in the village for a larceny from a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers were advised by the complainant that he had multiple items stolen from his vehicle which was parked in the store parking lot. Officers reviewed the video footage from the store, and by canvassing the area, were able to located Baez, who allegedly stole the items totaling more than $1,000. He was arraigned in Westfield Court and re-manded to the Chautauqua County Jail with no bail.
