A house next to the Cassadaga Community Baptist Church on Maple Avenue was demolished on Monday. The house belonged to the congregation. According to Tom MacKinder, a trustee of the church, "The church bought the house eight years ago. ... The church will do some landscaping to make it nice until the congregation decides what it wants to do with the property. It would be nice to get something going to bring more young people into the church. We hoped that this helped the community." The demolition was accomplished by Sall-Tee & Sons Construction Company of Dunkirk. Work began early in the morning. By afternoon, the structure was down and the remains were being cleared. The company is a family business in Dunkirk, according to Fred Lemiszko, who was on site supervising the work.
