PERRYSBURG - The town of Perrysburg has a new town clerk.

Clerk Peg Watkins, who is retiring at the end of the month, announced her resignation at last month's regular board meeting. Former board member Tamara Utley was announced as deputy clerk following her resignation from the board.

Utley was appointed by a motion approved unanimously by the board. Utley's term will be from Aug. 1 through Dec. 31.

"We're replacing a good person with a good person," Supervisor Dennis Stopen said.

In an unrelated matter, Water Superintendent Robin Clark updated the town on a water leak. Clark addressed the leak at last month's meeting but stated the water department could not find the leak. The leak was on North Road and was losing approximately 10,000 to 15,000 gallons, according to Clark. Clark also said he was waiting on information regarding the new hospital or the sewer treatment plant. The plans are currently at the state level waiting approval.

"When they're ready, they'll get a hold of us," Clark said.

In other business:

The board announced contact people for the cemetery association. They are as follows: Lee Sanders for the cemetery located on Route 39; Janet Hans for the cemetery located on West Perrysburg Road; Carol Long for the Versailles cemetery; Maria Steuernagel for the cemetery located on North Road; and Cindy Lauer for the cemetery located on Jolls Road. Those who are interested in donating to the cemetery should contact the individual cemetery contact person.

The town board approved the clerk to look into purchasing a cash register that will accept debit readers.

Highway Superintendent Dan Stang and Stopen were appointed to the Thatcherbrook Task Force committee.
