Twenty years ago - 1992
The Rev. Nancy V. Barber of Silver Creek was ordained to the ministry of the New York District of the Assemblies of God in Poughkeepsie. An alumna of Fredonia State University College with a bachelor's degree in music education, her ministry courses were completed through Berean College of the Assemblies of God in Springfield, Mo. The Rev. Barber has served as assistant pastor of the Fredonia Assembly of God Church and is presently assisting at the Silver Creek Assembly of God Church. She is the daughter of Mrs. Arlene Anderson of Fredonia.
Thirty years ago - 1982
A total of 43 Boy Scouts from Dunkirk, Fredonia, Westfield and surrounding areas left from Dunkirk on a 30-day trip which includes two weeks at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M. Participants included Peter Downey of Westfield, Dennis Budniewski of Dunkirk, Advisor Michael Foti of Westfield and Trip Coordinator Carl Burt of Fredonia, field director of the Allegheny Highlands Council.
Forty years ago - 1972
Ninety-nine high school seniors from 12 area schools will be participating in the "3-1-3 Program" this year at Fredonia State University College. The new program shortens the traditional four years of high school and four years of college to three years of high school, one transition year and three years of college.
Fifty years ago 1962
For seven years, many Dunkirkers have been unaware of an industry which has "flourished in their own backyard." Dustate Automotive Products Inc., located at 235 Bucknor St., bonds and rivets old brake shoes for several distributors in Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, according to Stephen F. Korwin, manager.
