Emily Ann (Hornby) Black, age 76, of Gerry, NY, a resident of Heritage Village, died July 10, 2012 following a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 8, 1935 on Long Island, the daughter of the late Helen R. Hornby and Frederick Hornby.
Emily graduated from Babylon High School in 1951 and attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY.

She lived in Patchogue, NY from 1966 to 1973 when she moved to Sandy Hook, CT. While living in Connecticut, she was an active member of Women's Aglow Fellowship.
In 1984, Emily moved to Fredonia and lived in Chautauqua County until recently. She worked at the Fredonia Assembly of God Church from 1984 until 2008 as the secretary and bookkeeper. During the 1980s, she would invite all the college students to dinner after Sunday Services.
Survivors include her son, John Black and her cousin, Joan Jahosky of Altamonte Springs, FL; and cousins Janna Jahosky of Longwood, FL, David, Jordan and Hannah Jahosky of Winter Springs, FL and Jeanne Jahosky of Chester, VA.
Memorial services will be held at the Fredonia Assembly of God Church on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund or the Fredonia Assembly of God Church.
