Mark R. Maytum, Presi-dent and Chief Operating Officer of DFT Communi-cations in Fredonia and Jamestown, was recently re-elected to serve a fourth term on the New York State Telecommunications Association (NYSTA) Board of Directors. The appointment came at the NYSTA Annual Conference held at the Otesaga Resort in Cooperstown, June 4 to 6. Members are elected to the Board of Directors by their peers in the industry.
"It is with great pleasure that I will continue to serve in this capacity," Maytum stated. "It has been a privilege to work along side such fine individuals as I have for the past four years on the NYSTA board. It is an exciting time to be involved and help lead an industry at a point when technology and new innovations are experiencing such an incredible growth."
The NYSTA is an organization that represents the interests of New York's premier telecommunications providers. NYSTA's membership includes telecommunications service providers throughout the state from larger national firms to smaller providers across New York.

Founded in 1921 by 13 telephone companies as the "Upstate Telephone Association of New York," the name was changed in 1935 to the New York Telephone Association, Inc. to reflect a broadened scope of interests. In 1997, responding to major changes in the industry, the Association changed its name to the New York State Telecommunications Association, Inc. Currently, in addition to the 53 telecommunications carriers, the Association includes 19 internet service providers and more than 150 associated manufacturers, suppliers, and consultants to the industry. NYSTA is governed by a 16-member Board of Directors.
As president of DFT Communications, Maytum leads 85 employees in a 115-year-old company which offers local, long distance and digital phone service; Internet services, security systems; call center services; satellite services; business telephone systems; electrical contracting services; computer sales & networking; television & electronics sales; and computer repair services.
