LITTLE VALLEY - Dick Gillespie, director of Gillespie Pageants, announced they will be back at the Cattaraugus County Fair in Little Valley for the 24th year holding the Cattaraugus Fair Pageant for girls and boys of all ages.
Reigning Miss Cattaraugus Fair Teen-ager Elizabeth Jaremko will be on hand to assist Gillespie and to crown her successor.
The pageant is open to contestants from all area counties in the following age groups: baby boys and girls 0 to 12 months, baby boys and girls 13 to 24 months, Teeny Miss Cattaraugus Fair girls 2 to 3, Teeny Mr. Fair boys 2 to 3, Little Miss Cattaraugus Fair girls 4 to 5, Little Mr. Fair boys 4 to 5, Junior Miss Cattaraugus Fair girls 6 to 8, Junior Mr. Fair boys 6 to 10, Miss Pre-Teen Cattaraugus Fair girls 9 to 12, Miss Cattaraugus Fair Teen-ager girls 13 to 19 and Ms. Cattaraugus Fair in three age divisions: 20 to 29, 30 to 39 and 40 plus.
Applications are available at the fair office or by contacting Gillespie Pageants toll-free at 1-877-596-9152. In addition, you may leave your name and address at firstname.lastname@example.org and they will forward the application.
There is one competition for babies - a nice semi-formal outfit. For girls 2 to 12, there are two competitions - one is casual or sports wear and one is formal wear. For teens and Ms. competitors, there are four categories - an interview with the panel of judges, casual wear, formal wear and a final interview on stage.
The winner of each age group will receive a beautiful tiara, sash of office and a winner's trophy. All other contestants will receive a beautiful trophy for competing.
In addition, all winners win a paid entry to the 2012 New York State Pageant of the Stars to be held in November. They will receive details on that at the pageant.
Contestants will be accepted right up to the day of the pageant (check-in time is 1 to 1:30) but to be listed in the free souvenir program of the event, you must enter no later than Aug. 27.
