The OBSERVER

Twenty years ago - 1992

Ten years of consecutive service as president of the Cassadaga Valley Central School Board - a decade of dedication. These statements could be one of the many items Donna Meder could list on her resume, if she chose to. At the recent organizational meeting, for the 10th year in a row, she was selected to head the CVCS school board.

Thirty years ago - 1982

A local chapter of Compassionate Friends, a self-help organization for bereaved parents, has been formed in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area. Membership is open to parents who have experienced the death of a child. Monthly meetings are informal and without charge. Participants may attend as often or infrequently as they wish. While there is no right way to grieve, other parents who have experienced the death of a child offer understanding and support through Compassionate Friends.

Forty years ago - 1972

Stanley Beilen of 401 Main St., Dunkirk has been appointed as national aide-de-camp for the VFW.

Fifty years ago - 1962
