County Parks Commission to meet Thursday night

The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Chautauqua County Airport in Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Doug Houck to appear on Senior Report

Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Doug Houck as the guest on Saturday's television program. Houck has authored several books including "The Visionary: A Tale of Old Chautauqua, the Great Lakes, and Beyond." The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 and 8 p.m. for some communities. Reed Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995. The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest. The guest is subject to change.

Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on channel 5. In Dunkirk, Forestville, Hanover, Irving and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19.

New Horizons Band performing tonight

Fredonia's Gazebo Sum-mer Concert Series continues tonight featuring New Horizons Band. The concert runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the park. Those attending may wish to bring a lawn chair for greater comfort.

Picnic in the Park series continues today in Fredonia

The Fredonia-Pomfret Recreation Department Picnic in the Park series continues this week with Mr. J. and Coco the Clown, today. The program takes place at the Barker Com-mon Gazebo and will run from noon to 1 p.m. Get ready to be entertained with magic, stories, puppets, and a whole lot of fun. Mr. J and Coco will be offering magic and clown classes following the performance. Sign-ups will be held prior to the show or you can call the Fredonia-Pomfret Recreation Department to get your name on the list. 679-2311

Playground supervisors will escort children from playground sites to and from the event. Children must have a signed permission slip to attend. All playgrounds will close from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Bring a lunch and enjoy the entertainment. Community member are welcome.
