Twenty years ago - 1992
Fredonia Grange No. 1 recently hosted the 125th anniversary celebration of the National Grange when the New York State Leadership Conference at Fredonia State University College brought 230 guests to their West Main Street hall. Chautauqua County Executive Andrew Goodell presented Neva Woolley, Pomona master, a proclamation in honor of the 125th anniversary of the National Grange and declared July 17 "Grange Day in Chautauqua County."
Thirty years ago - 1982
World-Wide News, located at 25 West Main St., Fredonia in the Russo Building, recently held a grand opening celebration. Owner Ralph Genovese, who also owns Pete's Papers, Pipes and Pastries" in Dunkirk, notes that his new store is similar to Pete's as far as the product line is concerned, but is a little smaller in size.
Forty years ago - 1972
Rollin A. Fancher, justice of the Supreme Court for the Eighth Judicial District, has announced his retirement, effective Sept. 1.McDonald's Restaurant in Fredonia is holding its grand opening. Owners are Mr. and Mrs. James Cabal of Fredonia.
Fifty years ago - 1962
St. Anne's Society of Sacred Heart Church in Dunkirk observed the 100th anniversary of its founding with a Mass and reception.
