Willowbrook Golf Course
Wednesday Travel League - Butch Mackowiak earned his 20th career tour victory and also set a league course record with the low round of 78 at Willowbrook Golf Course. Mackowiak broke the old mark of 84 held by Mike Baron, and he also led the first nine (South course) with 38. Dave Franklin finished second with 81 and led the second nine (West course) with 39. Al Etzel won the B Flight on a tiebreaker over Alex Deering and Angelo Leone won the C Flight. Winner of the Commissioner's Award was John Slaughter.

The Wednesday Men’s Golf League at Pinehurst recently installed a memorial bench on hole No. 7. The bench was dedicated to David “Willy” Markham and a plaque was installed in the clubhouse to honor past members of the league. Funds for the project were donated by league members over the last year.

Seneca Braves 1, Pro Bats Yankees 0
Charlie LaDuca and Bob Edwards locked up in a classic pitchers duel. Edwards and the Seneca Braves prevailed over the Pro Bats Yankees 1-0. Edwards was masterful spinning the two-hit shutout. He struck out six Yankees, allowing solo hits to Evan Carmello and Stoney Woodard. LaDuca was equal to the task scattering six hits as he struck out eight Braves, including five in a row along the way. T. Johnston drove in the winning run with a solid single to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Westfield Annual Invitational Swim Meet
The Annual Invitational Swim Meet is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Westfield Welch Field Pool. Interested swimmers are invited to participate. For more information, please call the pool office at 326-4441.
Olean Gus Macker Tournament
Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball, America's largest outdoor basketball tournament, will be held in Olean on Aug. 17-19.
The three-day event will benefit the Olean High School Booster and Olean City School District Foundation.
The tournament in open to players of all ages and experience levels who are then computer-matched by age, height and experience so that all participants can be competitive.

New Era Baseball Tryouts
Team New Era will hold tryouts for the summer 2013 elite travel baseball teams for boys ages 9-17 the week of Aug. 18-23.

Randy Goss Memorial Golf Tournament:
The 2012 Randy Goss Memorial Golf Tournament has been scheduled for Aug. 18 and will be held at RoseBrook Golf Course in Silver Creek.
This is a two-person scramble format with a 9 a.m. shootgun start. The cost is $55 a person which includes golf, cart, skins, Closest to Pins on every hole, lunch, beer, pop and dinner to follow at RoseBrook. There will be a bus taking golfers from Dunkirk to Rosebrook and is limited to 72 golfers.

Mandatory meeting planned For CLCS
athletes, parents
All Chautauqua Lake Central School student-athletes participating in a modified, junior varsity or varsity sport during the 2012-13 school year are strongly urged to attend a sports information meeting, along with their parents, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9 in the district auditorium.
Coaches for all three seasons will be available to review a variety of topics, including season expectations, requirements and other pertinent information. All required athletic forms for the entire year will be handed out and can be completed at the meeting.
