Holistic health educators celebrate 10 years teaching with open house

Mary Damiano, MS, RD, CDN, CDE, owner of Nutriperx, nutrition services and Carolyn Grady, MA, RYT, owner of Dunkirk and Fredonia Yoga Center will each celebrate 10 years of leading area residents to greater levels of health and wellness with an open house Saturday Aug. 11 from 1-4 p.m.

The public is invited to visit the yoga studio, offices and gathering at 809 W. Howard Ave., Dunkirk to meet the teachers, register for classes, try some restorative yoga poses and enjoy healthy snacks.

There will be drawings every half hour for participants. Prizes include free classes, books, CDs and other goodies.

Damiano, a certified diabetes instructor and nutrition therapist, leads private coaching sessions as well as the "Choose to Lose" group program. She teaches students to approach all food from a perspective of healthful choices.

Working with a full spectrum of clients, Damiano specializes in management of diabetes, high cholesterol, Celiac disease and weight issues through nutrition therapy. Her services are covered by several insurance companies' benefit programs.

On Aug. 11, Nutriperx will introduce its newest associate Rachel Kirsch, MS, RD, CDN, registered dietitian. Kirsch, a Medicare provider of medical nutrition therapy for diabetes and non-dialysis renal disease, will welcome new clients and schedule appointment at the open house.

Grady, a nationally certified yoga teacher, offers group and individual classes including all levels, 50+, chair yoga, deep relaxation and meditation techniques.

As she guides students toward radiant health, she challenges their sense of physical limitations and coaches them to grow into deeper alignment with their physical and emotional selves.

In addition to teaching meditation and relaxation classes at SUNY Fredonia, Grady is the author of several online yoga blogs,including BarefootandUpsideDown.com. She leads the Fredonia Meditation Circle and the Fredonia Yoga Club.
