Donald A. Manning, 83, of Irving, NY passed away Tuesday August 7, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving wife of 62 years and family.
He was born Feb. 22, 1929 in Sheridan, NY to the late Marion and Erma Huer Manning.
Don was the owner-operator of Manning Bros. Inc. for 47 years, where "His Boys" - Ray Manning, Larry Reynolds, John Manning, Frank Manning and Matthew Reynolds spent many hours learning Don's way of doing things.

Don's other devotion in life was to the Irving Volunteer Fire Department, where he had 65 years of dedicated service. He was awarded the "Top Responder" for 2010. Don was Chairman of the Irving Fire District Commissioners for many years. He was also a member of the Hanover Fish and Game Club, Cattaraugus Tractor Club, a former member of the Town of Hanover Water & Sewer Board and a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1952-1954.
Don is survived by his loving wife Doris "Dorie" Smith Manning and his son-in-law Larry Reynolds, his grandchildren Matthew (Michele) Reynolds of Forestville, NY and Tonya Russo of Irving, NY, his great grandson Noah "Little Sunshine" Reynolds, his brothers Lester (Roslyn) Manning and Gerald (Becky) Manning; sisters-in-law Norma (Punk) Manning and Marion Allison. Don is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by his daughter, Carolyn "Lynn" Reynolds and his brothers, Richard and Joseph Manning and a sister Shirley Manning Sanderson.
No prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the St. Columbans on the Lake Chapel, 2546 Lake Road (Rt. 5) Silver Creek, NY, Saturday morning at 11 a.m. A luncheon at the Irving Vol. Fire Dept. will immediately follow the Memorial Service.
