PERRYSBURG - Kenneth Jay Watkins, 87, a retired truck driver for Dorns Transportation, where he worked for 23 years, died Saturday, August 11, 2012
at his home on North Road in Perrysburg, NY. He was born April 4, 1925 in Perry, NY the son of the late Jay G. and Mary E. (Smith) Watkins. Ken has lived in Perrysburg since 1965 and was formerly from Franklinville, NY. He also worked for William Higgins & Sons in Buffalo, and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed golf.
He was a social member of the Perrysburg Fire Dept. He is survived by his wife, Alma E. Rogers Watkins of Perrysburg, NY whom he married on November 4, 1945; three sons, William E. (Mary - Peggy) Watkins of Perrysburg, NY, Kenneth Watkins, Jr. of Springville, NY, David A. (Dorothy) Watkins of Penfield, NY; two daughters;
Connie I. Soroky of Gowanda, NY, Kathleen Marie Chandler of Leona, NY; 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and many
nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son-in-laws, Arden Chandler and Alan Soroky; his brothers, Willis E. Watkins and M. Duane "Skip" Watkins;his sister, Joaine Hooper; and his grandson Joseph M. Soroky. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Hills
Funeral Chapel, 255 Aldrich Street, Gowanda, NY. The Rev. David Watson of Perrysburg United Methodist Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held at
the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. The family suggests memorial to Perrysburg Fire Dept. P.O. Box 206, Perrysburg, NY 14129.
