Business After Hours set for today
The Dunkirk and Fredonia Community Chambers are partnering on a Business After Hours networking event today, which will be at Katarina's, above Demetri's at the Dunkirk Harborfront from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
There will be a cash bar, complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a business card prize drawing. Attendees can stay and watch Music on the Pier for the evening from Katarina's upper deck. The concert that night will be Chautauqua County native Jackson Rohm.
The cost of this event is $5 for members and future members. If a member pre-registers and brings a guest, the member can attend for free. Registration is available through the Chamber website.
Special Legislature meeting on County Home Tuesday
Chairman Jay Gould has called for a special meeting to be held on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Legislative Chambers in the Gerace Office Building, Mayville. Purpose of the meeting would be to receive the report from the Center for Governmental Research regarding the Chautauqua County Home.
Rabies clinic to be held on Saturday
A free animal rabies immunization clinic will be held on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Tractor Supply Store, 3978 Vineyard Drive, Dunkirk. Dr. Joseph Bache will administer the vaccines and the event is sponsored by Tractor Supply Store.
Roads to be closed
The town of Sheridan will have Miller and Stone Quarry roads closed to all traffic Tuesday starting at 7 a.m. The town will have the intersection closed to re-place culvert pipes. Road closed signs will be up, but no detour will be posted. Wednesday is the rain date.
Traffic Survival Workshop Saturday
On Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., JCC North County Center will offer a NTSI Traffic Survival Workshop. This class will provide a 10 percent auto insurance discount for three years and subtract four drivers license points from the total. Class fee is $35. Call 363-6500.
Lori Cornell to appear on Senior Report
Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Lori Cornell as the guest on Saturday's television program. Cornell serves as a Chautauqua County Legislator from Jamestown.
The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities. Reed Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995. The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest. The guest is subject to change.
Senior Report is shown live Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassa-daga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Forestville, Hanover, Irving and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19.
The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.
