History calendar to be available
Pomfret Town Historian Todd Langworthy has announced he will have his new 2013 Fredonia-Pomfret History Calendar available for sale at his booth at the Fredonia Farm Festival next weekend.
The calendar features photographs of important people, places and events from the town's history over the last 200 years. The calendar is being printed in laser quality with help from Copy Boy Printing, with a cost of $10 each. The calendars will make great gifts and will only be available in limited quantities. Langworthy will also have all of his local history books available at his booth for sale, with everything able to be personally autographed by the author. In creating the new calendar Langworthy stated that "I heard many people say they would really like a calendar with some of the town's history included, so I thought it would make a nice item to have available at my Farm Festival booth this year. The topics are very interesting and I really think people will enjoy them for their own home or to send to friends and relatives as gifts for the holidays."

JCC North to hold Microsoft Word class
Jamestown Community College's North County Center in Dunkirk is offering a non-credit course, Microsoft Word Tips & Tricks, from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 25. Tuition is $34.
The course expands on efficient methods for creating MS Word 2007/2010 documents. Shortcuts, auto correct entries, auto formatting, creating and using macros, and other techniques are explored. Participants must be experienced Word users.

Sheridan to hold tire amnesty
SHERIDAN - The Town of Sheridan will be conducting "tire amnesty" during Aug. 22 through 31. Town residents only may schedule a time by appointment only to bring old tires down to the town for disposal. Residents may call 673-1806 to schedule a time to drop off tires.
