SUNY Fredonia recently announced the names of students who have been awarded scholarships for 2012-13. Scholarships are made possible by private donors and foundations, most of whom made gifts to the Fredonia College Foundation. Among those who have received scholarships are the following local students:
Dunkirk:
Jennifer Yerico of Dunkirk, a junior criminal justice major, has received the $575 Zola Graf Scholarship.
Nathan Ahlstrom of Dunkirk, a junior majoring in adolescent social studies education, received the $500 Kim Korhummel Scholarship.
Taylor M. Bankoski of Dunkirk, a junior early childhood education major who has just graduated from Jamestown Community College, has received the $575 Wal-Mart Scholarship.
Alissa Mari Cole of Dunkirk, a senior majoring in childhood inclusive education with middle school extension and concentration in English, has received the $400 Thomas Morrissey Memorial Scholarship through CSEA, and the $500 Student with Disabilities Scholarship through the Office of Students with Disabilities at SUNY Fredonia.
Krystal P. Lebron of Dunkirk, an incoming freshman who will begin majoring in liberal arts this fall, has received the $4,000 Keeper of the Dream Scholarship.
Forestville:
Nicholas Caccamise of Forestville, a freshman majoring in history, has received a Smith-Viggiani Veterans Scholarship ($5,000).
Fredonia:
Deanna Civilette of Fredonia, an incoming freshman for the fall 2012 semester who will be majoring in music composition, has been selected for the $1,000 Welch's/National Scholarship.
Elizabeth Barter of Fredonia, a junior majoring in English, has received the $500 Fredonia Scholar Award.
Brandon Napieralski of Fredonia, a sophomore majoring in business management, has received the $500 Fredonia Scholar Award.
Annette Morrison of Fredonia, a senior social work major, received the $200 Stephen C. Morse Memorial Scholarship and the $575 Wal-Mart Scholarship.
Gowanda:
Emma Steever of Gowanda, a junior music education major, has received two scholarships-the Wilma E. Watson Memorial Scholarship ($825) and the Margaret Shuler Wyckoff Scholarship ($350).
Portland:
Lori Dispenza of Portland, a junior psychology major, has received two scholarships the Smith-Viggiani Veterans Scholarship ($5,000), and the SUNY Fredonia Veterans Scholarship ($500).
Westfield:
Rachel Quagliana of Westfield, an incoming freshman who will begin majoring in political science this fall semester, has received the $1,000 Welch's/National Scholarship.
Sinclairville:
Meagan Marsh of Sinclairville, a junior majoring in early and childhood education, has received the $4,000 Carnahan-Jackson Scholarship.
