Family Orthodontics is celebrating "Five Years of Smiles" in Chautauqua County and will be hosting a Patient Appreciation Day Saturday, Aug. 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. All past, current and prospective patients are invited to join the staff of Family Orthodontics at their treatment facility located at 10261 Route 60, in Fredonia, for an afternoon of fun, games, and prizes.
"We are grateful for the warm welcome we have received from the community over the past five years and the opportunity to gain the trust of our patients in their journey toward improved smiles and oral health. We look forward to continuing to serve our growing family of patients," Dr. Matt, as he is known by his patients, expressed.
Family Orthodontics is owned and operated by Dr. Matthew Fortna. Dr. Fortna opened Family Orthodontics in 2007, and has grown their services to deliver superior patient results over the past five years.

The state of the art facility was expanded in 2010 and features digital imaging and radiography, an in house laboratory, and computerized patient records. During family-friendly and progressive orthodontic care, patients can also enjoy the game room, movie screenings, and coffee bar.
In addition to offering Invisalign and clear braces, Dr. Fortna became the only registered provider in Chautauqua County to offer Damon System of low-friction passive self-ligating brackets, which has been clinically proven to deliver remarkable advantages, including moving teeth faster with more gentle forces. Most recently, Family Orthodontics joined the Tri County Tobacco-Free Program to become a 100 percent tobacco-free facility to reduce secondhand smoke, reduce litter, and model healthy behaviors for both children and adults.
After obtaining degrees from Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Fortna began his dental career as an officer for the US Navy. He then completed two residencies, including one specializing in orthodontics. Following the completion of his post doctorate training, Dr. Fortna served on the faculty of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine while working in private practice in the Philadelphia area. Dr. Fortna brought his Ivy League training to Fredonia with his wife, Lisa, and their four children, and has been honored to serve Chautauqua County with orthodontic care for children and adults.
Orthodontic treatment can provide enhanced cosmetic appearance, increased self-esteem, and a lifetime of improved dental health. The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that all children be examined by an orthodontist by age eight. Family Orthodontics offers free consultation for all new patients, including adults. With or without a referral, patients may call 672-2002 for an appointment, visit www.familyorthontics.net, or find us on Facebook.
