Brocton man charged with obstruction of breathing

BROCTON - On Friday, a Brocton man was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment after a domestic incident.

Around 4:30 a.m., deputies responded to a domestic incident at 150 W. Main St. in the Village of Brocton. It is alleged that Brian K. Trask, 30, of Brocton, had choked a victim, cutting off their oxygen, and harassed the victim by pushing them through a glass door.

Trask was taken into custody and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment. He was arraigned in the Village of Brocton Court and was committed to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash and $3,000 property bail.

LAKEWOOD - On Wednesday, a Panama man was charged with fifth-degree possession of stolen property after a stolen bicycle was found in Lakewood at a pawn shop.

On July 31, Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputies received a complaint of a stolen bicycle that was located at a pawn shop in the Village of Lakewood. After an investigation into the bicycle, Scott E. McChesney, 22, of Panama, was found to have sold the bicycle to a pawn shop. McChesney was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Busti court to appear at a later date.

Westfield Police Department

On Aug. 12, a Westfield man was jailed after allegedly shoplifting at Family Dollar.

Around 5:15 p.m., Westfield police were called to Family Dollar Store located at 93 East Main St. in the Village of Westfield for a shoplifting complaint.

Upon arrival, Walter C. Lanneaux, 29, of Washington Street in Westfield, was allegedly found to be in possession of merchandise which he had taken from the store and for which he had not paid.

Lanneaux was taken into custody and arraigned in the Village of Westfield Court on charges of petit larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Lanneaux was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail on $2,00 cash and $4,000 property bail.

On Aug. 11, a Westfield man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated (DWI),using a fictitious inspection sticker, uninspected vehicle, and failure to signal a turn.

Around 2 a.m., Westfield police stopped a vehicle that allegedly did not signal at a turn coming from Clinton Street in the Village of Westfield.

During the traffic stop, the operator of the vehicle, Michael J. Trippy, 25, of East Main Street, Westfield, was allegedly found to be intoxicated. Trippy was charged with felony driving while intoxicated (DWI),using a fictitious inspection sticker, uninspected vehicle, and failure to signal a turn.

Trippy was arraigned in the Village of Westfield Court and is to appear at a later date to answer the charges.

On Aug. 7, an Elyria, Ohio man was charged with speed in zone and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation in the Village of Westfield.

Around 3:20 a.m., Westfield police stopped a vehicle operated by Ronald Newsom, 57, of Elyria, Ohio, for an alleged traffic infraction. During the stop, it was allegedly found Newsom's license was suspended.

Newsom was charged with speed in zone and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator. Newsom was arraigned in the Village of Westfield Court and is due back at a later time to answer the charges.
