ZBA tables Baptist church decision

August 20, 2012
By SHIRLEY PULAWSKI - OBSERVER Staff Writer , The OBSERVER

On Aug. 14, a public hearing was held before the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) of the Village of Fredonia to consider the application for a use and area variance of Fredonia Baptist Church. The church wishes to construct four dormitory units and a two bedroom apartment at 19 Church St. in the village.

As proposed, the construction would be in violation of a village of Fredonia zoning code. The nature of the violation is that the use is not permitted because the floor area does not meet the 300 square feet occupancy space required and six more parking spaces are required, one for each unit.

The matter was tabled at the hearing, after the zoning board requested more information from the church representatives. According to Code Enforcement Officer John Monaco, the ZBA will meet with the church again on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. in the Village Hall.
