Celebrating the Farm Festival

August 24, 2012
The OBSERVER

A Fredonia tradition is under way.

On Thursday evening, the showing of the "Goonies" movie in the park kicked off the Farm Festival event, but a grand opening ceremony at 9 a.m. officially kicks off the event today. Besides the regular showcase of vendors, crafts and a parade on Risley Street, there will also be numerous events, including a children's tractor pull, a performance by Terry Buchwald as well as an antique car show.

Downtown will be a bustling - and Fredonia State University students are returning as well. So take some time and take in an annual festival that is a farewell, in a sense, to summer and a celebration of the coming fall.

Keep NRG running in city

Here are the state leaders we are urging residents to reach out to - through phone calls or e-mails - to support legislation that will keep the NRG station in Dunkirk operating in the future. They include:

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo. Call (518) 474-8390 or e-mail at www.governor.ny.gov/contact/GovernorContactForm.php

Hon. Sheldon Silver, Assembly Speaker. Call (518) 455-3791 or speaker@assembly.state.ny.us
