Brenton Wilcox is the 2012 Club Champion for the Cassadaga Country Club. Wilcox led wire to wire in the two-day tournament held Aug. 17-18. He finished with a 142 total for 36 holes. Tim Bulger won second place due to a sterling 5-under 65 on the second day. Bulger’s 143 total finished ahead of 14-time champion Scott Johnson at 144. Johnson took the position in a scorecard match over Rod Lind. Matt Wallace won the First Flight with a 160 total. Allen Chase and Paul Edson rounded out the top three. Jeff Cook won Second Flight honors with Greg Wise winning second place. In the Senior Championship, Dan Butts won the title with Dick Mangine in second place. Wednesday Travel League - The league held its third Grand Slam event of the season, The Frank Borowski Invitational, named for league founder Frank Borowski, at Downing Golf Course in Harborcreek, Pa.
John Bongiovanni was the overall winner, beating out Kerry Murphy on a tiebreaker after both shot the low round of 78. The victory was the first of Bongiovanni's career. Joe Michalski finished third with a 79. Murphy was low on the front nine with a 39 while Bongiovanni and Michalski each shot a 38 for the low back nine.
Joe Woloszyn won the B Flight on a tiebreaker over Mike Willoughby. Rudi Adamczak won the C Flight on a tiebreaker over Bob Manning. Doug Keith won the D Flight on a tiebreaker over John Tofil and Bill Aldrich. Winner of the Commissioner's Award was Lee Titus.

The annual captains' meeting for the Lou Nocek Classic League will be at 8 p.m., at Lucky Lanes, in Fredonia, on Monday, Aug 27. All team captains and any new individual bowlers or new teams are urged to attend. It is a five-man scratch league, with a team average limit of 990. The Hammerhead Swim Club is a sanctioned member of the Niagara District of USA Swimming. The 2012-2013 season will begin Sept. 17 at 6:15 p.m. at the Fredonia State University pool in Steele Hall. The club is designed to instruct youth age 6-18 in the four basic stroke techniques and condition them for competitive swimming.
