Voice of the Martyrs VBS to start Sunday

The Lake Shore Community Chapel will host the Voice of the Martyrs VBS Sunday, Aug. 26 through Thursday, Aug. 30. It will be held at 5:30 p.m. each day and is open to all ages. The VBS will teach about faith and courage of persecuted Christians in China, Nigeria, India, Egypt and North Korea. The Lake Shore Community Chapel is located at 4552 W. Main St., Fredonia. Church celebrates 52nd anniversary

The Friendship Missionary Baptist Church started its 52nd church anniversary celebration on Sunday, Aug. 19 with the Rev. Harriston, and the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Erie, Pa., was the hosting church. The closing anniversary service is this Sunday, Aug. 26 at 4 p.m. The service will be hosted by the Rev. LeRoy Walker and the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Jamestown.

Cassadaga church to feature guest speaker

CASSADAGA - White Dove Crow, a Native American of the Cree tradition, is the guest speaker at Universal Unity of Spirit in Cassadaga, Sunday. Her topic is "Destiny, God's Plan For Us." White Dove Crow travels throughout the U.S. and Canada as a teacher and representative of North Star Pathways. The Healing Service is from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and White Dove's talk is at 1:30. Prayer Chaplain Kim Kibler will also be available for individual prayer requests. Following the service, the church invites everyone to stay for refreshments and fellowship. Dunkirk church plans Swiss steak dinner

The Dunkirk First United Methodist Church is holding a Swiss steak dinner on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 601 Washington Ave., Dunkirk. The cost is $8 and the dinner includes dessert. Eat-In, takeout and delivery will be available. Call 366-2230.

St. Dominic Parish Altar and Rosary Society plans pot-luck

St. Dominic Parish Altar and Rosary Society will be holding its annual membership pot-luck dinner and meeting on Monday, Sept. 10, at 5:30 p.m. at the Brocton site. All attending are asked to bring a dish to pass and a non-perishable item to donate to the Food Pantry. Table service will be provided. All women of the parish are invited to attend.
