CDBG public hearings Monday
The city of Dunkirk will have two meetings Monday at the Inglesia Getsemani Asambleas De Dios, 113-117 Central Ave. in the city.
At 5:30 p.m. the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) amended 2012 Annual Action Plan will be released. At 6 p.m. the city will hold its second public hearing on the CDBG five-year plan for 2013-2017. Interested persons are invited to attend and contribute their ideas.
Southern Tier Legal Secretaries membership meeting Sept. 12
The Membership Meeting of the Southern Tier Legal Secretaries is scheduled for Sept. 12. The guest speaker will be the Hon. Judith Claire, Chautauqua County Family Court Judge who will speak on the Family Drug Treatment Court Program. The meeting will be held at Shaggy's above The SeeZurh House in Bemus Point. Lake Shore Railway Historical Society planning trip to Cuyahoga Valley
A motor coach will leave North East, Pa., at 11 a.m. Sept. 15 for the trip to Brecksville, Ohio. There the group will board a steam powered train for a ride through the Cuyahoga National Park and follow the Erie-Ohio canal to Canton, Ohio with a one hour layover planned there.
A motor coach will be waiting our return to Brecksville to return us to North East arriving approximately at 10 p.m. The trip cost is $105 per person with checks made payable to "LSRHS."Reservations required by Sept. 7, first-come, first-served. For further information, call Sid at (814) 899-1892.
Brocton pre-K registration
BROCTON - Brocton Central School's Elementary Principal Sandra Olson reminds parents that there is still space available in Mrs. MacIntyre's pre-kindergarten program. Both morning and afternoon classes have limited space. Children must be 4 years old on or before Dec. 1 to register for this fall. Classes start Sept. 5. Parents should register their child in the Elementary Office; registration takes about 30 minutes. Call 792-2100 with any questions.
Arkwright tire amnesty continues
The Arkwright Highway Department has announced tire amnesty will continue from now until Sept. 1 for town residents. Tires are taken free of charge, by appointment only. Call 679-9515.
