.....Joseph Metzger of Fredonia and Rochester recently completed the Appalachian Trail. Starting in mid-March in Georgia, he hiked approximately 2,200 miles and ended the trail on Aug. 10 at Baxter State Park in Maine.....

.....Gregory Golando and Samuel Leone, both of Fredonia, will be transferring to SUNY Oswego and have received $1,000 Merit Awards.....

.....Shauna Brunea of Forestville and Sarah Miller of Perrysburg are incoming students of SUNY Oswego and have received $2,000 Merit Awards.....

.....Michael Lanphere of Sinclairville, a graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School, and Zachary Stahlsmith of Chautauqua, a graduate of Chautauqua Lake Central School, plan to attend West Virginia Wesleyan this fall.....

.....A daughter, Madison Kate Baker, was born on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at Buffalo Women and Children's Hospital to Nicole and Ernie Baker of Dunkirk. Proud grandparents are Michael and Susan Laurito of Fredonia, and Ernie and Wendy Baker of Cassadaga. Madison also has a brother, Steven Baker of Jamestown and a sister, Emily Baker of Dunkirk.....
