Mary E. "Betty" Sheedy, 92, the beloved wife of Richard Sheedy, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at her daughter's home in Ellicott City, MD. following a brief illness. She was comforted by loving family and
Hospice for her final days.
Born July 17, 1920 in Dunkirk, N.Y., the daughter of the late George and Lillian McKean Wirtner. She had
been an elementary school teacher in Dix Hills, N.Y. for many years in addition to being a homemaker. She
was also an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Community in Eldersburg, MD.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters Carole (Paul) Ferlazzo of Flagstaff, AZ., Kathleen (Scott) Maziel of Ellicott City, MD., Patricia Baulder of New Market, MD., and Mary (Reid) Thompson of Lexington, KY, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.She was predeceased by siblings William T. and Georgia Wirtner.
A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road,
Eldersburg, MD. Interment will be at a later date in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills, MD.
