Forestville drops Cattaraugus-Little Valley in opener

FORESTVILLE - The Forestville Lady Hornets opened its season with a three-set win over the visiting Cattaraugus-Little Valley Lady Timberwolves, during non-league girls' volleyball action, on Wednesday.

"We played a very, very strong team (Wednesday)," Forestville head coach Jack Dugan said. "So to win close games is important. It's a good test for your kids right from the get go."

Sydney Youngberg led the Lady Hornets with six kills and four blocks while Ryanne Dugan had 19 assists and three digs. Also for Forestville, Cherish Pope had four kills, three digs and two blocks, Alisha Szumigala had three kills and five blocks, Emily Gilman chipped in four digs and three kills, Baylee Gloss charted three aces and Jessica Makuch three kills.

For Cattaraugus-Little Valley, Sara Crandall had 18 kills and 13 digs, Shelly Bach had 15 kills and three blocks, Kaitlyn Nye had 30 assists and Raychel Larkin and Haley Stevens each had two aces.
