Church plans free

dinner and movie

CASSADAGA - The Cassadaga Community Baptist Church, located in the village at 25 Maple Avenue, will hold a free dinner and movie night this Friday in the Fellowship Hall. The dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and the movie will follow at 7. The dinner and movie, "Clancy," are free and open to everyone.

Neighbors gather for community picnic

STOCKTON - Forty-three neighbors gathered in Stockton at the Firemen's Grounds for an afternoon filled with food, laughs and a chance to reconnect at the South Stockton/Route 380 community picnic.

Chuck Carlson and Nellie Sharp won prizes donated by Elaine Titus for the eldest man and woman present. Later, Carlson auctioned off the white elephant gifts which will support next year's picnic.

Many thanks were extended to all who helped with this year's picnic - Olive Donaldson, Sharon and Paul Lang with Melanie and Jordan; Chuck and Andy Wittenbrook, Kelly Krebs and Pat Kaczar.

All are looking forward to next year's picnic on Saturday, July 27, 2013, again at the Stockton Firemen's Grounds, Brigg's pavilion.

Anyone interested in helping or with new ideas may call Claudia at 962-8411 or Elaine at 962-3132.

'Friends of Chautauqua Youth' to hold fundraiser

On Saturday, Sept. 8, from 8 to 10 a.m., "The Friends of Chautauqua Youth" will host an Applebee's Flapjack Breakfast. All tickets are $5 and can be reserved by contacting Donna Banach at 785-6180 or Connie Wojcinski at 366-5386.

All proceeds from the breakfast will stay in the community for local camping and educational programs for young people.

Quilt guild to present show

EDEN - The Eden Quilt Guild will present "Our Quilted Heritage," a quilt show, in conjunction with the Eden Bicentennial on Friday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Eden United Methodist Church on East Church Street. Admission is $5.

New lupus patients welcome at meeting

The Lupus Alliance of Upstate New York will hold a new patient orientation meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Lupus Alliance office, 3871 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. All newly-diagnosed lupus patients, their families and friends are welcome. There will be current literature available as well as a video and time for questions. There is no charge for the program, however, reservations are necessary.
