Twenty years ago - 1992

In a front page photo, Democratic presidential candidate Bill Clinton takes a minute to strike a classic campaign pose with a young Fredonia resident during a brief stopover in Dunkirk recently. Looking on are vice presidential candidate Al Gore and the baby's mother, Mindy Wendell. Baby Emily, meanwhile, seems to be more interested in Clinton's tie than in all the attention she is receiving.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Silver Creek native and former resident Frankie Barresi is currently a technical advisor and professional boxing coach in Hollywood for the forthcoming movie, "The New Sting" and the television movie, "Honeyboy." In his younger day, he enjoyed a career as a featherweight boxer from 1926 to 1934, which ended when he broke his hand after his 35th bout.

Forty years ago - 1972

Sister Mary Kenneth of Buffalo has been appointed as principal of St. Anthony's School in Fredonia. She replaces Sister Mary Frederick, who will be teaching in Buffalo.

Fifty years ago - 1962

At a meeting of the board of directors of the Willowbrook Cemetery Association, a program for remodeling the present office and chapel building was approved. The groundwork for purchasing more land was also approved. With the addition, the association will have 27 acres.
