SINCLAIRVILLE - Cassadaga Valley survived an early test with a 25-16, 19-25, 25-19, 14-25, 25-17 win over Fredonia, Thursday in a non-league high school volleyball tilt.

Shawana Miller was a big reason the Lady Cougars (1-0) came out on top in the five-set marathon as she put up some gaudy stats with 15 kills, four aces and a pair of blocks.
Kaitlyn Lacki recorded six kills and three aces while Maya Sischo chipped in 24 assists and four aces in the win.
The Lady Hillbillies (0-1) had some stellar individual performances as well.
Makenzie Tarnowski paced the attack with four kills and four blocks, Margaret Wright added four kills and 12 digs and Maddie Crandall dished out 17 assists to go with five aces.
Cassadaga Valley also won the jayvee game, 3-25, 26-16, 25-20.
The Lady Cougars continue their season Wednesday at Catt.-Little Valley.
