August 31, 2012
The OBSERVER

CHARLOTTE - An accident Friday on Route 60 in the town of Charlotte has left a driver injured.

Robert R. Wilson, 20, of Westfield was operating a delivery truck owned by Johnson Estate Winery of Westfield south on Route 60 at 12:30 p.m. After interviewing witnesses and conducting an investigation, police determined Wilson appeared to fall asleep at the wheel causing the vehicle to go off the west side of the roadway where it struck a utility pole causing it to break about eight feet from the ground. The vehicle then continued through a lawn and down into a deep embankment surrounded by trees.

Wilson was transported by Cassadaga Fire to WCA Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Route 60 was closed for an hour while power lines were removed from the road. Charges are pending.
